Dennis began his career in the futures industry on the CBOT trading floors from 1983 to 1985 working for Clayton Brokerage Co. and Lind Waldock. From 1985 through 1996, Dennis worked for Rosenthal Collins Group (RCG). His primary responsibilities included management of the retail order room, Institutional/CTA desk, and the supervision of the 24-hour international desk. In 1996, Dennis established First United Nationwide, a discount futures trading company which was the foundation for RCG’s current discount division. Dennis joined Fox Investments in 1999 where he met Emil van Essen and eventually joined him at Vankar Trading Corp. in 2001. In his position as Director of Operations and Trading at Vankar, Dennis had numerous responsibilities including management of trading, trade allocations and reconciliation, and compliance. Dennis has a BS in Finance from Western Michigan University.

Bryan Kiernan
Chief Development Officer

Bryan Kiernan has over 15 years of alternative investment experience.    Currently, Bryan is the Chief Development Officer for Emil van Essen, LLC where his focus is to effectively execute the CEO’s directives, bolster the firms investment relations efforts and R&D teams. 

 

During his tenure within the alternative investment industry he has built, developed and managed various components of Fund of Fund, Single Manager Fund, Brokerage, CTA, Financial Technology and Proprietary Trading businesses. 

 

Prior to joining Emil van Essen LLC, Bryan worked with two Fortune Global 500 firms: Allianz Asset Management GmbH in Munich  and Bank One Capital Markets in Chicago.

Bryan graduated from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business in 2001 with dual degrees in Finance and International Business, in addition to having studied at Hochschule Reutlingen European School of Business.

Mr. Doyle started his career in 1989 with Cargill Investor Services (CIS) on the LIFFE floor in London. In 1993, while still employed by CIS, he spent the year working on both the CBOT and CME trading floors in Chicago. In 1994 Kevin was hired by Trout Trading Management Company (TTMC) in Bermuda, for the development and implementing the firm’s global trading strategy. In 2002 Mr. Doyle joined Crabel Capital as Senior Trader responsible for expanding and developing the 24 hour global trading operations while also working directly with Mr. Toby Crabel in the development of the firms short-term trading strategies. In 2004 Mr. Doyle moved into a full time roll of researcher, system developer and portfolio manager for Crabel. He developed numerous internal portfolios and strategies, which included both short and long-term systems trading both futures and equities. Other initiatives focused on the diversification of the firms portfolios both internally and externally into uncorrelated product groups. In 2012, after Crabel relocated to Los Angeles, Mr. Doyle chose to stay in Chicago. After consulting on research for Emil van Essen, in 2013 Mr. Doyle was given the opportunity to be strategically involved with eco Capital Management, an existing niche CTA, becoming the managing principal in April 2014. In 2017 Mr. Doyle arranged and structured the purchase of eco Capital Management LLC by Emil van Essen LLC with the transaction completed in March 2017. Mr. Doyle is a principal of EvE and is the creator and portfolio manager of the Global Tactical Allocation Program (GTAP).
